Or a web page that explains PC-to-phone is VoIP? How about Internet phone service? VoIP right? Wrong! VoIP is neither broadband phone, PC-to-phone or Internet phone service. It's time to set the record straight once and for all.

VoIP is an abbreviation for Voice over Internet Protocol. VoIP is a technology that makes such things as broadband phone service, PC-to-phone, and Internet phone service possible by using the Internet to send and receive phone calls. The technology is VoIP while the means are broadband phone or PC-to-phone and the like.

So now we know what broadband phone isn't, I suppose this would be a good place to explain what it is, exactly. Broadband phone service as discussed before, uses VoIP technology to send and receive phone calls using your regular everyday household touch tone corded or wireless telephone.

Technically broadband phone service doesn't even need your computer to work, you just need a broadband Internet connection, and both DSL or cable broadband will work. You'll also need a broadband telephone adaptor to plug your phone line into instead of the usual wall jack. Pretty simple huh?

What broadband phone service allows you to do is bypass your telephone company, and connect your call directly to the same grid your phone company uses. Can you guess what that is? Right, the Internet. All this time your phone company has charged you just to connect your call to the Internet! What a rip off, right?

Now just wait, it gets better. So far Uncle Sam and the telcos have not been able to tax or collect on sir charges as had been the case for many years with your landline phone company. Right now additional charges are very minimal. Did you know that taxes and hidden fee's can make up as much as 20% of your landline phone bill?

Now on to PC-to-phone service. PC-to-phone works in much the same way broadband phone works, but without an adapter. Instead you just need a headset or speakers and microphone and PC-to-phone software installed on your computer. You can use PC-to-phone to call someones phone from your computer, and sometimes people can even call your computer.

Now before you get excited, PC-to-phone is not free. The cent per minute rates are low for long distance, but you normally get charged the same amount for a local call. Whats worse, PC-to-phone services actually do no service for you at all. It uses the software that you downloaded and host on your computer to track your calls, and doesn't cost them a penny when you make a call. You're just paying for the software over, and over, and over again.

Internet phone service is just a vague term for broadband and PC-to-phone type services. So now that you know what VoIP is not, and what broadband phone service and PC-to-phone is, why are you still using that landline phone? Broadband phone service is without any doubt the cheapest phone service on the planet and is the best way to take advantage of VoIP technology. Not to mention, it finally gives you a way to "stick it" to your phone company.

Daymon Hoag is the founder of Cheapest Service where you can shop for Over Internet Phone Service
About Streamyx Combo
Streamyx Combo Online Registration
Streamyx Packages
Streamyx Free Modem
Streamyx Registration Promotions
Streamyx Combo
Streamyx Self Care
Streamyx
Streamyx Registration Promotions
About Streamyx Combo
Streamyx Combo Promotions
Streamyx Packages
Streamyx Combo
Register Streamyx Online Now
Streamyx Online

iPhone Unlock Tips - The Safest iPhone Unlock Software

iPhone Unlock Tips - The Safest Software Reviewed; Unlocking your iPhone can be a frustrating matter. With a quick search online, it turns out there are not many options to choose from. However, all is not lost, because the software that is out there, works fantastic! Doing this in games and burning these games used to be a dreadful task just a couple of months ago, Now all of the headache has been removed and now you can literally copy wii games in three simple steps.

A good burning program will offer both the option to copy and burn your games. Not only this but it must be easy to use. The support for classic Nintendo games means that you now have the ability to copy your older favorites, as well as the latest and greatest games. If you want to begin copying games, find some reliable software.

In order to copy Wii games, you are required to download special software for copying and to burn your games. This software will allow you to read and copy Wii games discs. Also, the software will allow you to burn any game your copy onto a DVD disc. Remember, to copy the games, you will have to use a software that can read Nintendo wii game discs. If you don't have any software that can read the disc on your computer, your computer will not recognize the disc as it should.

Once you have your software, you can begin the process to backup your games. This can be accomplished in three simple steps. Step 1: Insert your game disc to be copied. Step 2: Insert a blank dvd to copy the game onto. Step 3: Enjoy your new backup of your game. How much more simple does it get?

If you want to do this, it's easy to find software to burn them. However, choosing the software that will be able to actually read is the hard part. Businesses report spyware incidents rising sharply in recent months. Typically associated with unprotected home PCs, spyware could soon qualify as the top security headache in the corporate world. When queried as to which posed a greater security threat to networks, 10% of the respondents chose phishing, 23% said viruses and 67% replied spyware. And while spyware has turned into a key security concern for those managing corporate networks, its negative impact on home users appears even more detrimental. Because of spam, spyware and related problems, it is estimated that about 44 percent of home users use email and the Internet less today than they did one year ago.

The problem has become so serious that even Microsoft has worked to combat it at the OS level. With the release of Windows XP SP2 in 2004, the company redesigned Internet Explorer with a pop-up blocker and included a more-robust firewall. And since then, Microsoft has included anti-spyware utilities built into the latest releases of their operating systems.

Regardless of how a PC gets infected, the results can be serious: compromised company security, overloaded networks, and significant user downtime and inconvenience. Although the symptoms of a system that's overwhelmed with spyware vary, the primary indicators include sluggish performance, broken Internet connections, and possibly even an unusable PC. Plus, ultimately, your identity and private information may be compromised. On a corporate level, spyware can compromise network and data security, corporate assets and trade secrets.

Aside from potential identity theft, many spyware programs steal from you by cluttering your computer's memory resources and eating bandwidth as it "talks" to the spyware's home base using your Internet connection. This could lead to your computer suffering system crashes and/or slower performance.

There are some observers who think that the spyware epidemic is overblown -- at least where corporations are concerned. Since most spyware comes from users installing 'free' content or questionable software they claim that at the enterprise level businesses have the talent and budget to create and enforce policies that prevent people from installing things themselves. However, others disagree noting that misspelling a common domain name can land on a domain that will inject spyware into your PC. In fact, it is difficult to avoid getting spyware if you surf the Internet at all.

Definition of Spyware

Many analysts and administrators agree that while spyware's impact is rising, its definition remains elusive. The umbrella term most commonly refers to a wide range of unethical software, from difficult-to-uninstall toolbars to home-page hijackers and pop-up window generators. In a poll of security administrators and IT managers more than half of the respondents said that most users don't know what spyware is -- which may partly contribute to its growing threat. A common definition of Spyware is any program or technology that aids in gathering information about a person or organization and which is capable of locally saving or transmitting those findings without the user's knowledge or consent.

Below is a list of some of the most "successful" offenders:
PurityScan displays pop-up advertisements onto your computer whenever you are online. It induces you to install it by claiming to find and delete pornographic images.
n-CASE delivers targeted pop-up advertisements to your computer -- it is often bundled with freeware applications.
Gator has the ability to display banner advertisements based on your Web surfing habits and is usually bundled with free software programs.
CoolWebSearch has the ability to hijack your Web searches, home page, and Internet Explorer settings.
Transponder is an IE Browser Helper Object that monitors requested web pages and data entered into online forms, and then delivers targeted advertisements.
ISTbar is a toolbar used for searching pornographic web sites that displays pornographic pop-ups and hijacks your homepage and Internet searches.
KeenValue is a program that collects personal information and delivers advertisements to your computer.
Bargain Buddy delivers targeted pop-up advertisements to your computer based on key words you enter while surfing the Web.
Internet Optimizer hijacks error pages and redirects them to its own controlling server at http://www.internet-optimizer.com.
Perfect Keylogger is a monitoring tool that records all visited web sites, keystrokes and mouse clicks. It is usually installed manually.
TIBS Dialer is a dialer program that hijacks your modem and dials toll numbers, usually to access pornographic "pay" Web sites.

How Does Spyware Find You?
You visit a few web sites on the Internet
You download freeware/shareware applications
You swap music or photos with other users
You open spam email messages or open attachments
Other people use your computer

Symptoms of a Spyware Infection
Different default homepage
Unusually slow Internet access -- Spyware clogs bandwidth because it is importing information while sending out information about the user or their habits
Reduced computer productivity -- Spyware slows the system because it operates in the background
More frequent pop-up ads
New or different search toolbars
Unidentified toll charges on your phone bill -- a dialer can initiate outgoing calls from your PC to 900 numbers with the sole intention of generating large phone bills

Spyware Protection
In an effort to help in the fight against the spyware epidemic, Microsoft has been focused on getting their anti-spyware software updates to users as quickly as possible. The company claims that people are reporting spyware-related issues more than ever, and that over one-third of the reported crashes in their applications are related to spyware issues.

There are several ways that one can minimize the threat that spyware poses to us all. These include:
Practice safe surfing
Apply fairly secure configuration settings to your browser
Delete spam email
Be wary of cookies -- these may add convenience to your browsing, but they can also track your activities and relay that information back to third parties. The outbound communication caused by cookies also slows your Internet connection
Be wary of peer-to-peer file sharing services
Run anti-spyware software -- the most highly regarded are Spybot-Search & Destroy, Spy Sweeper and SpywareBlaster. Actually, running a "cocktail" of the three is the most effective. However, some spyware programs insert themselves in Internet Explorer's Trusted Sites -- and even the anti-spyware software won't remove them from there. So it is necessary to clean that out manually. This can be accessed from IE's main menu by selecting Tools -> Internet Options -> Security -> Trusted Sites

Steve Leytus is a senior software engineer and develops applications for NutsAboutNets.com. But to make the right choice for your business there's a few facts you must get straight.

"T1" is a telephone company term that describes a 1.54 Mbps capacity Internet connection. It also implies that the connection is "business class," and includes a guarantee.

The term "DS3" is also a "business class" guaranteed Internet connection. It should not be put together with "DSL," because in general they are not similar. However. many business customers confuse the 2 leading to some avoidable mistakes during the quote and purchase process.

Years ago, a business class T1 connection was very expensive, in excess of $1000 per month, and was designed to provide reliability to businesses whose use of the Internet was critical (they were willing to pay more for guaranteed reliability). Back in the early days, the alternative was dial-up. T1 prices have come down to the $400 per month range today.

Most other connection "speeds" (more accurately, capacity) offered by the telephone company are a "bundle" of 1.54 Mbps lines. A 3 Mbps link is also referred to as a "bundle" of 2 T1's. Similarly, DS3 is a nickname for a 45 Mbps connection, and is simply a bundle of 30 T1's. Since the cable TV companies began retrofitting their systems to deliver Internet access, these nicknames (T1, DS3, and others) have been borrowed, although the "speeds" originally were derived as a function of the limitations of the telephone company copper wires. Cable company equipment on the other hand can be throttled to any speed for the end user.

Around 2000 companies like TowerStream (beginning in New England, and now nationwide) began deploying business class Internet connections using equipment that, for the first time, was not retrofitted, but designed for the purpose of bidirectional data delivery. These systems also have infinitely variable throttles. TowerStream, for example, delivers a guaranteed T1 speed connection, but they also offer a 2 Mbps, 3 Mbps, 8 Mbps, and other ranges of speeds not offered by the phone companies, and their "DS3," instead of being throttled at 45 Mbps, is rounded off to 50. These connections are also unique because they completely bypass the phone and cable "copper" infrastructure.

It is confusing to many folks why someone would pay $400 per month for a business class link. The answer is in the small print.

I've heard Verizon on the radio offering "up to 8 Mbps" for twenty dollars a month. At the end of the ad, the guy with the really fast voice came on and stated "speed and uptime not guaranteed." That's the small print, radio version.

What this means is, exactly what it says ... "up to 8 Mbps." Maybe, maybe not. Maybe it'll crawl along at a terribly slow speed. Maybe it'll stop working completely. Maybe it'll go 8 Mbps. Maybe. They provide no guarantee. You certainly can not call and complain if it goes slow. They only said it might go 8 Mbps.

Less expensive connections, like DSL and cable modem, usually residential (and often small busines too), are not guaranteed. It's important to know. Usually the more expensive connections do provide an "SLA," or Service Level Agreement, which spells out the minimum speed, latency, uptime, and other measures of performance, which are guaranteed.

In addition, business class links (like T1's) usually allow the customer to host a server inside his location, and he gets public IP addresses, as well as other means of support, which are generally required for Internet intensive and Internet commerce-based businesses, and businesses which have outside users working from remote locations who need to be able to access the office. Residential type services (the less expensive services) will not provide business support, and often will cut off a customer who attempts to circumvent the basics.

It's all in the small print. Is it guaranteed? Are public IP addresses provided? Is there an SLA? Are these things important to you? They may or may not be ... but the business class of service is the lifeblood of businesses of all sizes these days, and should be expected to be for many years to come.

Should you want assistance helping navigate the questions and decisions involved in choosing the right business bandwidth solution for your company....take advantage of the no cost consulting offered at .... DS3 Bandwidth

Michael is the owner of FreedomFire Communications....including DS3-Bandwidth.com and Business-VoIP-Solution.com. Consumers want to control the content they purchase and want to be able to use their electronic devices together without restrictions placed on them.

Standards and interoperability will have to come to digital devices, just as Google co-founder Larry Page said in his Consumer Electronics Show keynote speech when he introduced Google Video. Right now, only those video's purchased through Google Video that are NOT copy protected will play on video iPods and Sony PSP's - the rest only work on Google Video.

http://www.google.com/press/podium/ces2006.html

That news about Google Video and Digital Rights Management (DRM) standards of interoperability had me fuming about my inability to use my content (photos, movies, music) on devices made by different manufacturers or between cell phone providers. Today I ran across a story about an Anti-DRM group in Britain campaigning to demand an end to DRM.

http://www.theregister.co.uk/2006/01/18/drm_consumer_opposition/

Obviously I'm not the only one disturbed by the fact that I cannot move digitally recorded movies from my Tivo to my DVD recorder (purchased for exactly that reason, but before I knew it wouldn't work) I only found out that I couldn't record movies from the Tivo to the DVD recorder when I called Pioneer customer support to ask why the recorder wouldn't record my movies. It seems that I can only move digital movies from the Tivo to my computer (which I found I could do with free Tivo Desktop software when I called Tivo customer support.)

So instead of recording directly from my Tivo to my Pioneer DVD recorder, I have to move the movie over to my computer via Tivo Desktop software, then burn a DVD from my computer. Very smart move on Tivo's part, as it means I definitely won't buy the DVR from my satellite TV provider because they don't support skipping commercials, nor do they support moving movies to my computer.

This also means I don't NEED my Pioneer DVD recorder - so their DRM which stops Tivo digitally recorded movies from recording to DVD means that I won't use that Pioneer DVD recorder and will now sell it. The other DVD player connected to my other television will suffice. If I want to record something, it goes on the Tivo because it is so easy to use and works so extremely well. I'll use the free Tivo Desktop software and move it to my computer and burn DVD's of my recorded television and movies there.

Clearly Tivo is doing all they can to make their device consumer friendly - but they are being besieged by television and movie content producers, who are screaming at them to stop the "piracy" of their users. Tivo now disables the 30 second commercial skip button daily (which you have to know how to program - Select, Play, Select, 3-0, Select). They do this via automatically updated internal software because advertisers screamed at them for several years about the consumer ability to skip commercials. The result is that I reprogram that function daily anyway - annoying, but not nearly as annoying as not being able to control my own device the way I want to.

I'm convinced that content producers will lose this battle over the long term and I'll do all I can to fight them myself, like supporting anti-DRM groups wherever I find them. And I'll research more thoroughly before buying products which contain DRM to make certain they will work with my existing devices - meaning no Sony CD's or DVD's. There have been rumors that Apple is creating a set-top box and service similar to Tivo and I'd buy one in a split second as I'm sure I could use my iPod, iMac and iPhoto seamlessly between all devices.

Maybe they'll make a phone with a Mac OS and a PDA as well (I actually used to own an early Apple Newton PDA and oh, how I wish they had continued to develop that wonderful little thing). I'm happy to use anything Apple produces - but I won't switch cell providers or switch my Satellite TV provider. Interoperability and standards are essential to me. It's about choice. Pioneer limited my choices and lost a customer and Motorola lost my ROKR iTunes phone business because the device is only available from Cingular.

Obviously, I'm a Mac user and had studiously avoided purchasing Windows machines until I had to buy a Windows box to run business software not available for my Apple machines. So I bought an extremely cheap $299 PC to run the three programs that won't run on my Mac. That cheap machine now serves as my DVD burner for movies (with a cheap external hard drive as movie storage drive). Pioneer lost a customer because they don't allow me to record movies to DVD from my Tivo. How about a Tivo/Apple partnership? That would be a marriage made in heaven due to the customer-centric design and usability so elegantly addressed by both companies.

I'll put up with Apple's walled garden (iTunes and proprietary AAC files) and their own DRM only as long as everything they make works seamlessly together. Apple products always have worked elegantly together and probably always will. Somehow most third party software seems to interact well with everything else on the Macs. The moment Motorola makes that ROKR iTunes phone available through MY cellular provider, I'll consider buying that phone.

Being in the market for a phone, I had been looking at a Palm Treo 650 phone/PDA and was excited when they introduced the new 700 model, just as I was about to make that purchase. So I read a few reviews and discovered to my horror that Palm just fell victim to the dominance of Microsoft and replaced their own well designed Palm operating system on that new Treo 700 with a buggy, slow and cumbersome Windows OS!

In the process they lost another customer, because I can't stand the clunky way one must navigate with Windows (reviewers agree) and refuse to buy that machine now, the same way I avoided all other PDA's running Windows for the past 10 years. This is all because Palm couldn't port Microsoft documents and Windows related bits to the Palm OS when corporate users required that interoperability. Thanks to Gates & Company, Palm lost another customer - and their own elegant OS.

If mainstream electronics device manufacturers continue to take the path of least resistance by kowtowing to content producers, lowest common denominator software and stifled functionality and interoperability, then consumers will eventually find a way to take back the control. We'll avoid buying products (CD's & DVD's, "rented" music) that don't work with their existing devices (Tivo's, DVD recorders, PDA's, iPods) and will find companies that make all of this stuff work together and buy from them - but only so long as ALL devices and ALL content work with each other interchangeably.

Mike Banks Valentine is a Search Engine Optimization Specialist and blogs about web content at: http:// weblogs.Publish101.com and distributes articles about business at: http:// Publish101.com while operating a small business ecommerce tutorial at: http://WebSite101.com
Streamyx
Streamyx Registration
Streamyx Packages
Streamyx Registration
Streamyx Packages
High Speed Streamyx
Streamyx Combo 110
Streamyx
Streamyx Business Enterprise
Streamyx Combo 90
Streamyx Online Registration
Streamyx
Streamyx Combo
WIMax
WIMax

A Simple Guide to Wireless Networking

Most folks want that laptop for work, school, or college. Most laptops these days are Wi-Fi enabled. That means that they have the wireless hardware and software built into the computer. To the average consumer, wireless is a form of magic. You turn it on and it works, right? Not always. Understanding the basics to wireless will help avoid frustration and headaches.

First, before we get into the basics of wireless networking, I have a few opinions to express.

It seems that everybody wants to go wireless with their laptops and desktop PCs. Wireless for laptops makes sense, since they get moved around between work and home and points in between. You can always connect using the Wi-Fi network at work or steal bandwidth from someone else. There are hotspots all over. There are ethical questions involved with borrowing?your neighbors signal. Let your conscience be your guide.

Wireless for desktops is an open subject. Since most of us usually set our desktops up on our home or office workstations, they tend not to move around. The only benefit of having a wireless desktop is that you dont have the expense and trouble of running Ethernet cable around your house. If you are not a DYIer, an Ethernet cable installation is an extra outlay. If youre lucky, your present PC is only a few feet away from your Broadband Modem. I personally prefer to have all my stationary PCs hooked up with Cat 5 Ethernet cables. That way I dont load up the wireless bandwidth on the router. Well talk more on bandwidth later.

There are hardware requirements to wireless networking. These are the things you need to communicate.

At home you need:

(1) a Broadband internet connection (Cable or DSL modem),

(2) a router to broadcast the wireless signal,

(3) a wireless enabled computer.

You cannot set up a wireless network using a Dial-Up connection. Period. I recommend that you power off your Broadband Modem and any existing computer systems before you begin the installation of the wireless router. The computing equipment will start to negotiate with your router automatically on start up. This will get you on the network without confusion. The router and existing PCs should not need any further configuration. The default or current settings should work. Your PC should already be set to DHCP in your Network Connections TCP/IP properties window. If it werent you would not have been able to connect to your ISP. This is a default setting of your PC.

The Broadband internet connection gear should already be present. Thats the Cable or DSL Modem that your Internet Service Provider installed when you got their service. Its connected to the Cable or DSL filter connection coming from your wall. The Modem has two connectors as a rule. One for the Cable or DSL data into the Modem, and one RJ45 connector you probably have connected to the computer you have in service now.

Youll need to unplug the Ethernet cable between the computer and the Modem. Reconnect that cable to your wireless router. It goes into a RJ45 connector usually labeled WAN?for Wide Area Network. The only other connection you will need to make is to connect another Ethernet cable between from one of the wired ports on the back of the router to your PC. There are usually 4 of them. Any one will do to reconnect your existing PC so its on the network. The existing PC will get its internet connection through this port. Your routers default settings should allow you to start connecting to your Wi-Fi enabled computers.

If all the cables are correctly placed, you should now be able to get on the Internet from you existing computers and your wireless computers.

Some quick notes of interest:

(A) Your Wi-Fi router is transmitting and receiving in the 2.4MHZ range. So are your Wi-Fi enabled computers. This is the same frequency range of a number of cordless telephones. You may have interference on your cordless phones once the Wi-Fi network is installed. If this occurs youll need to get 5.8 MHZ phones or put up with the noise.

(B) One of the most common questions I get is ?strong>I bought a wireless laptop and I cant get on the internet. Why not??If your wireless router is installed properly, then your wireless laptop may need configuration. Go to your Network Places or Network Neighborhood for a wizard to help you set up your computer for wireless.

(C) Bandwidth is the volume of traffic you can sustain through your network. The more devices using the Wi-Fi network, the slower the network uploads/downloads will be.

Remember, your wireless network works a lot like your cordless phone system. You need a transmitter/receiver at each end. Think of the router as the base station and the wireless PC as the handset. You cant talk on your cordless phone if the base station is unplugged. So without a wireless router in service, you cant communicate with the Internet. Hotspots are just spillover signal from someones wireless router.

Randolph M. It was named Revolution initially but it was changed to simply Wii, pronounced as 'we'. Nintendo invested a huge amount into advertising for the Wii.

What makes it different from other Video Games?

The Wii gaming system comes with a basic controller. This can be used for all of the games and is simple to use. The interaction between the Players and the Games is through the players movement by holding on to the controller such as a basic gesture may be to be pitching a ball. The controller is placed in the hand and the player uses it by rolling the hand forward in the pitching motion. This is a basic controller, but functions very well for the gaming system.

Looking at Wii Boxing - a Fun and Innovative Game

One of the innovative interactive game is Wii Boxing. The games are easy to learn but need practices There are also similar other type of games such as Wii Bowling, Wii Baseball, Wii Tennis for everyone to play.

The important part of this Wii system is the Wii controller. The Key of the system is the light weight controller that enable players to interact with the many games, including Wii Boxing. It contains a motion detector that copies onto the game a persons movements. This can vary from game to game.

On Wii Boxing game, player needs to purchase an extra console to play the game. This is the Wii Nunchuk. Wii Nunchuk is needed to control the motion in the Wii Boxing game. Players hold the regular controller in one hand, and the Nunchuk in the other. Plug both controllers in, and then play can begin.

It may seem a little strange at first playing the Wii Boxing, standing and punching in the air, but once the player gets the hang of it, throwing punches at an opponent seems to come naturally.

The Wii Boxing game can really give a great exercise. With all the jumping and jabbing required during the game, many calories can burn up fast. Some players may have noticed that their punches may not be landing very accurately but try to maintain accuracy, and avoid having your own character punched, is a balancing act that Wii Boxing is trying to maintain in its game. Since both a Nunchuk and the regular Wii controller are needed for this game, more practice is required to be able to handle the controllers.

It is a great choice of games for the family at the same time keep you healthy with all the body movement.

More tips on Nintendo and other video games click below to visit my website:

===>http://www.nintendowiipal.com

===>http://www.nintendowiipal.com/blog
Streamyx Coverage
Streamyx
Streamyx
Streamyx Free Gifts
Streamyx Value Added Services
Streamyx Technical
Streamyx Combo 90
Streamyx Business
Streamyx Promotion
Streamyx Packages
Streamyx Promotion
Streamyx - No rental
WIMax
Streamyx Combo
Streamyx Registration

Google Goes Wireless In The Land Of The Free

In the heart of Silicon Valley a revolution is about to take place. It could change the Universe as we know it. Don't laugh, this revolution will grab you by the short wires and turn your world upside down.

It will affect your life and the lives of your children's children. It might just be the spark that changes everything...

It all has to do with the Internet.

Someone wants to give the Internet its wings. Get rid of all those wires and monthly bills. Set it free. Let it fly among the stars. Broadcast it out into the stratosphere. Or in other words, make it free for everyone.

And it's about time.

Are we talking about a free wireless Internet for the masses? Well, not exactly and not yet. But it's the start of such a concept that could quickly become a reality for many people very soon. It has to start somewhere and why not in Silicon Valley. Where else would you want to start a free wireless revolution but a place that really knows how to cash in its chips.

And who else would you expect to lead this Internet Parade than Google; the all knowing, all seeing, omnipotent and undisputed ruler of the mighty cursor.

Google wants to give free broadband Wi-Fi service to the small city of Mountain View, sometimes AKA-ed as the Capital of Silicon Valley. Located between the Santa Cruz Mountains and San Francisco Bay, Mountain View is home to around 72,000 young, vibrant and smart residents. The median age is 32.8 years old. Pure Google fodder.

Google has proposed a system of providing free Wi-Fi via 300 transmitters on light poles which would virtually make the city one big hotspot. City leaders now have to decide if Google should get the go ahead for this free Internet. In its proposal, Google has plainly stated its own self-interest in such a system.

"In our self-interest, we believe that giving more people the ability to access the Internet will drive more traffic to Google and hence more revenue to Google and its partner websites."

Obviously, Google has everything to gain. Ad revenue and the Internet is its lifeblood. Why not expand that lifeblood. And why not make the Internet pay for itself. Why shouldn't it be free and ad supported -- cut out all those monthly ISP bills users now have to pay.

Will the majority of Internet users be willing to give up their ISP bills for a few Google ads on webpages? In a heartbeat!

Sure, there will be naysayers, all revolutions have them. Commercialism of the web is a totally bad road to traverse. Capitalism is wrong. But it's a moot argument, the web is already monetized up to the yin-yang. Users should get something back for a change. It might be totally in Google's self-interest to give people a free Internet but there's no denying that such a gesture would also be a way of sharing all that ad revenue.

A free Internet that spans the Globe and beyond -- available to everyone. Such a system is probably a natural evolution. The Internet is already turning into a billion channel universe broadcasting its contents into the stratosphere. Why not give all this content some wings.

Why not make this broadcasting system free and ad supported. There's a subtle democratic gesture in what Google is offering. Will people accept this offer or try to hold back evolution. Will they enable Google "to be a good corporate citizen and play a pioneering role in a public-private partnership to bridge the digital divide."

Of course, this is just the start, if Google's Proposal flies, a free Internet will only be a click away.

Today, Mountain View. Tomorrow, the Universe.

Bring it on! The good example in Malaysia is Air Asia.

Air Asia have managed to avoid the red ocean (compete with Malaysia Airline and regional airline such as Tiger Air, Jet Air etc) by looking into the factors that industry take for granted and also factors that important to customers. With the Four Actions Framework proposed by Blue Ocean Strategy authors, Air Asia have implemented many strategic move to ensure they are making Malaysia Airline and regional airline company irrelevant.

Example of the strategic move as follows:

Eliminate:

* Over the counter booking system

* Free Food/Beverage on the plane

* Seating Class booking system

Reduce :

* "luxury" facilities provided by Airport Lounge

* No of attendance service on the plane

* Seat Quality

Raise:

* Focus on several key destination

* Increase frequency of flight

Create :

* Online Booking system

* Point to point travel system

With this strategic move, Air Asia able to focus on factors that really bring value to the customers such as point to point travel system, easy booking system etc. This will help Air Asia to reduce cost and at the same time increase the value to the customers - Value Innovation.

Besides that, Air Asia is able to look at current non-customers as explained by the authors of Blue Ocean Strategy.

Current Airline Customers:

* Customers who are affordable to buy expensive ticket from Malaysia Airline and regional airline companies.
* Business people in Malaysia or ASEAN region

Non-Customers:

* Government Staff
* Those that cannot afford to buy expensive ticket such as who are in rural areas, students or fresh graduates.

With the successful implementation of this Blue Ocean, Air Asia have venture into other businesses such as Tune Hotel and Tune Money. The concept is toward Blue Ocean marketplace.

ECO MAX Training & Learning Center provides Blue Ocean Strategy workshop for public listed companies, private held company, small businesses and Government body.

The author can be contacted via the web-site http://www.ecomaxmc.com/
Streamyx Combo 90
Streamyx Combo 110
Streamyx Free Gifts
Streamyx
Streamyx Combo
Streamyx Entry
Streamyx Combo
Streamyx Combo 2MB
Streamyx - No rental
Streamyx Combo
Streamyx Broadband
Streamyx Combo 60
Streamyx Combo 160
Streamyx - No rental
Streamyx Combo 1MB
